The Present Moment
Have you ever been so entranced in a task or in sitting, where your mind is completely still and your thoughts aren't running wild. Where you feel so much inner peace for like a split second because you catch yourself. That is Meditation. Being with yourself in the moment instead of analyzing, or thinking about the past or the future or the what ifs life brings us. In that split second, you were more awake then ever before.
Waking up means uncovering the veil, opening your third eye–the pineal gland–right in the center of your eyebrows. The pineal gland is slowly being killed by the amount of fluoride we consume without one's awareness or consent. Thanks America. Opening your third eye helps you realize the truths of the Universe. You begin to connect with your intuitive self and make better choices, relieves you from anxiety, stress, and depression. It also helps to strengthen any abilities we didn't know we had, for example being clairvoyant or psychic.
Okay, this sounds interesting. How do I do it?
It's all so simple, but not really. The answer is meditation!
Meditation is when you can silence your mind and focus on keeping quiet to find peace within yourself. To truly be in the moment, to be present. Meditation allows you to find answers from within. If you're feeling lost, it can help redirect you. You can even receive messages from God/Universe/Higher power.
I recommend a beginner to start doing it for 5 minutes until they can completely quiet their mind, and then keep incrementing those minutes till you can do it for hours. This isn't easy. It does take practice because sometimes you get distracted. For example, I get random thoughts like, "I wonder what I'm going to eat today," or, "I have to to tell my mom about so-and-so." When my mind gets distracted by this, I quickly attempt to let it pass and continue to focus. Something that helps me get there is a mantra.
A mantra is a word or phrase that you repeat over and over out loud or in your head to keep you focused. This is also killing two birds with one stone because you're engaging in the law of attraction. You may have heard of the famous Om. The mantra you choose can be something empowering like: I am destined for greatness. Something you want like: BMW, or something you want to work on like: Patience. The mantra I've been using lately is love. Which I want to spread more of and want it to be the root of all my actions.
Okay, so now that we have a general understanding. How does one meditate?
I recommend you meditate in a quiet place where you won't be bothered. You can honestly meditate while driving, listening to music, or when you're in the bathroom, because like I said before, its about being present, to truly be aware of whats going on in the moment. I prefer sitting in my room with a candle on or outside with the wind communicating with me because i feel more concentrated. Whereas some cant sit still for 5 minutes. The beauty of it though, is that this is a practice. Which means you will only get better at it as long as you try.
So when you have your perfect setting, sit or lay down where you are most comfortable and close your eyes. If you feel like closing your eyes will put you to sleep just fixate your gaze on something. What I like to do is take 3-5 deep breaths. Inhale through the nose, and exhale out the mouth. While you do this be aware of your body. If you're clenching anything, your jaw, fist, or forehead, relax it. This is the perfect time to take a quick body scan and just calm your body down. Also, perfect time to say thank you to your body for being able to support you.
Now, start breathing regularly through your nose. Try to keep a same pace with your breathing. I usually like to imagine my breath being like beach waves. So gentle and consistent.
When meditating, your eyes are important too. I like to bring my attention to my third eye space. I bring my gaze up to the center of my eyebrows. There are other times where I want to focus on my heart, so I'll bring my attention to my heart space. When you do that you can literally hear and feel your heart beating. It's amazing.
You can also set an intention of what you wish to uncover before meditating or say a little prayer. Definitely do so! One of my favorite prayers before meditating is God, show me the truth about myself, no matter how beautiful it is.
I feel like this is enough information for any of you who were interested in meditating, but didn't really know how to do it or what it can do for you. Meditation can lead you to so many amazing and cool things that I can't wait to share with you guys sometime. I hope this helps and if you have any questions or want to share anything, feel free to contact me.
Namaste.
